Sucks to be me, I know lol...I just switched to Shaw from Telus due to price, I was getting a stupidly good deal and I find that although their new modem has nice features, it's inconsistent with some devices such as google home (known issue apparently). Due to the construction of my home, the workshop cannot be served by the house's wireless access point.EDIT: to clarify, I'm located on Vancouver Island and am interested in the Xi6 BlueCurve TV Players and associated gateway. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts My Arlo and Hue hubs both go amber when directly connected to the modem, and they go amber when connected to my gigabit switch.
Frequently Asked Questions . Had no issues connecting to it with my various personal devices but when I connected my Ethernet cables (which are my home alarm and monitoring systems), I don’t see evidence of a successful connection –the amber lights are flashing but the green light isn’t on. To access BlueCurve TV, please exit Private Browsing. I was kind of excited for a new tech toy to play with and wound up shaking my head at the design decisions Shaw made. Removing options that give consumers more privacy and security is unarguably anti consumer and anti privacy. If you're telling me to use bridge mode and all that you're telling me what I already know about all that and you're missing the point completely. The Bluecurve Gateway XB6 wasn’t designed by Shaw (its a Comcast product) but the decision to carry it has been controversial, more due to the 2 Ethernet ports than the DNS issue, which can be bypassed by bridging the modem and using your own … I'm running into issues I never had with Telus so I might end up doing what you're saying but only after I save money to buy a good router.I've intended to but costs of a good prevented me from doing it sooner. Most of those wouldn’t know what DNS is or does.Anyone that wants control or features would bridge their modem (regardless of model) and use their own device. If you need to configure your security devices with IP settings you more than likely have to update them to the new ip's.I had a similar issue with my NAS. Popular Topics. The Cisco DPC3848V is a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, and isn’t capable of using the OFDM frequencies Shaw uses to offer speeds greater than 300. Ask tech related questions, learn about new products, and get information.
Reply. Also they don't really tell you the pods are limited to 75 mbps and you won't get full speed on the wifi pods if you have 150, 300, or 600.We all know they took away DNS Settings because if you 1.1.1.1 or Google DNS they can no longer monitor your traffic.
Due to the construction of my home, the workshop cannot be served by the house's wireless access point. Every now and again the internet in my house would go down and I would contact support and they would reset it and everything back to normal. This now brings me to this morning when I thought it would be a great time to change it over while everyone was still asleep and not using the internet. If you *paid for* a cable modem and/or router that did not have DNS settings and only 2 ethernet ports, with the other two replaced by two disabled phone jacks, and the packaging told you nothing about these unusual feature removals you would not be happy about it.It is unethical of Shaw to restrict customers privacy and security in this manner.
