The point certainly could have been made in a more effective way, but I won't fault anyone for trying. tries to walk a line between abortion drama and adoption drama.

Over the course of Hannah's journey, she will come face-to-face with the mother that tried to abort her. Hendrix (Alumni), despite a somewhat surly characterization, is quite able to handle the many, many crying moments she's run through. Hannah (Rachel Hendrix) is a 19-year-old college student who collapses during the opening night of her big play.
... and the film's script touches on many October Baby is one of those films that most media critics will pan for its pro-life message and give little credit to the quality of the film. "October Baby" doesn't even meet the standards of decent propaganda. This may make me sound like a heartless prick but the thin that bothered me most about this scenario is that Hannah seems to have it figured out as to who she is and who she wants to be.
It is simply there to give an example of one person's take on the matter and hopefully shed light on why they think the way they do. I had not heard much about "October Baby" before going into it this afternoon except for the fact that it had to deal with the issue of abortion. The movie makes a more sincere, modest approach and sidesteps the overt proselytizing of the Kendrick brothers' pictures like Fireproof and Courageous. Her choice to forgive those who played significant roles in her pain, both past and present, turns everyone’s lives upside down.
