The outside temp sensor that tells you the outside temperature is mounted in the front bumper next to foglight in the black area and is held on with friction so it may have come lose from it's mount and needs to be put back in. Use a Philips head screwdriver and remove the six screws (red arrows, five shown). There is a small metal clip the sensor mounts on once inside the cover. Another more obvious symptom of a bad or failing sensor is an incorrect reading on the vehicle’s temperature gauge. The temperature sensor that mounts in the front bumper is the same for both Fahrenheit and Celsius and was used in W124, W126, and W201 cars (and maybe others).
