I have always found this fish interesting... Would love to target. I consider them in the same food class as sweetbreads. One of only 4 fish I'll eat along with yellow perch, crappie and walleye. I've only made it out on the ice three times.
They like the livers. They spawn under the ice and late ice on Oneida is a good time to catch them.

My summer burbot seem to be a little smaller on average than on ice. Known in fishing circles as Doctor Pyzer, he worked for 30 years as a senior manager with Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources before devoting all his energies to fishing.
