It is better than I expected it to be.It has a great performance, really smooth and great ratio for topwater!!! This is my first bait-cast reel and I was worried about bird nesting. When I was ready to upgrade I sold it at just under retail price on ebay. We rigged up and hit the pond in the neighborhood. Once adjusted, it casts so nice and smooth. They had two so I got them both after handling them,one for me and one for him. I can cast lures as far as a spinning reel using braided line. A little internet search produced the Black Max Combo right around the corner at Walmart.
