Minerality dominates a long and elegant finale. It has a grainy frame and juicy acidity, finishing long and floral. This Pinot Noir features fruit from our second estate, Découverte Vineyard. Résonance Vineyard Pinot Noir unveils the immense character, the “somewhereness” of this original site, within the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. At The Winery, the grapes are hand-sorted, and fermentation and maceration takes place in small lots, to retain the natural, original character of the site and vintage. The 2015 growing season began early, and, with a solid spring and summer, the Pinot Noir grapes reached optimal ripeness with good concentration. The 2015 growing season began early, and, with a solid spring and summer, the Pinot Noir grapes reached optimal ripeness with good concentration. The grapes within the Résonance Vineyard microclimate were close to perfection. 92points Résonance 2015 Découverte Vineyard Pinot Noir (Dundee Hills) Cellar Selection With production almost quadruple the previous vintage, the overall quality remains just as impressive. Medium ruby, the 2015 Résonance Vineyard Pinot Noir is scented of baked blackberries, blueberry coulis, toasted coconut, autumn leaves and dried violets with hints of earth and a classy framing of sweet spice. The vintage marks the year we retrained our organically farmed vines to further extract the complexity of the soil. The tension is balanced by a delicate tannic structure, and the palate is full of fruits—raspberry, strawberry, blackberry—and spices, including pepper and clove.
The wine is fine, subtle in the mouth.
Everything, beginning with bud break, started early. The vintage marks the year we retrained our organically farmed vines to further extract the complexity of the soil. As harvest approached, the Coast Range fended off the rains like a wall, allowing our estate Pinot Noir to develop intense concentration. The grapes are handpicked in the heart of the Dundee Hills wine region and defined by the red-fruit character and freshness typical of their volcanic Jory soils. During elevage, we control the juice with a light touch honed over 170 years of winemaking in Burgundy, boosting each vintage to achieve its most natural elegance and complexity. The pure expression of our organically dry-farmed Résonance Vineyard, planted on un-grafted rootstock in 1981. It’s medium-bodied and silky with more restraint in the mouth. The nose is elegant and delicate, with a lot of black fruit, delicate spices, and a touch of fine oak.
2015 was a fantastic year. On the nose, aromas of red fruits pair elegantly with a touch of spice and wood. The Résonance Vineyard terroir imparts its signature minerality and tannic structure, an effect known as “polished tannins.” The aromatic concentration is remarkable, with black cherry, blackberry, and blueberry aromas.
